Austin Municipal Court Marriage Records

The Austin Municipal Court does not have jurisdiction over marriage cases and does not maintain the city's official marriage records.

These records, which include marriage licenses, certificates, and Domestic Partnership Agreements, are held by the Travis County Clerk. Individuals can go through the clerk's search portal to look up these documents. People can also visit or contact the office using these details for inquiries concerning inspections and orders of document copies:

Additionally, the clerk's Open Records Request form is another option for ordering copies if the requester intends to submit their requests by mail. When using this method, the clerk recommends providing as much information as possible, such as the case parties' names and the case number, to ensure a fast search and accurate results.

While certified copies of marriage licenses are available only through the office of the Travis County Clerk, the public can also obtain marriage verification letters for marriages that occurred in Austin from the Texas Department of State Health Services. These verification letters only function as checks that marriages were recorded in Texas and do not carry any legal weight.
